Are you happy with the Direction of Bulloch County?
The Bulloch County Board of Commissioners, the County Manager, and Board of Education members are continuing to make a series of missteps that impact all of us: over-development, higher taxes, mismanagement of our water and natural resources, lack of a smart-growth plan, at capacity schools, and ignoring the citizens they represent! They are making many of their decisions in light of the foreign Hyundai factory and forgetting about the citizens who already live here and have invested their lives in this community. We are the ones who put them into office, the same ones who can and will remove them from office. The people we elect to represent us have a massive impact on all of us in our community. The people we elect to represent us locally, arguably, have more of an impact on our daily lives than the people elected to serve us in D.C.
How does this affect me?
All of these missteps come at the expense of the rest of us. We are asked to sacrifice our community and farmland and pay more taxes to fund this new development and infrastructure. This so-called growth will change the landscape and nature of our beautiful, small-town community. The Commissioners appear ready to vote to approve the proposed wells and sell the water to surrounding counties, including providing water to the Hyundai megasite. This action could bring many risks and challenges to citizens in Bulloch County. Another increase in the county’s or BOE’s budgets will directly impact your wallet. Can we really trust to put back into office those who increased our taxes during high inflation?
What can I do?
Vote in the May 21, 2024 primary! Your vote truly matters in local elections. The actions of our local elected officials impact our daily lives. We must ensure we have people in place who represent our community and its values and will implement a smart growth plan for Bulloch. The citizens of Bulloch County will decide on many local elected races to elect who best represents us. It is time for a change to send a message to our elected officials serving on the Board of Commissioners, the Board of Education, and beyond! Someone can be a good person but terrible at their job. This isn’t about friendships, family members, or that you have known someone forever! Elections are about putting the best people in a position to make the best decisions for all the citizens. We encourage you to vote AGAINST ALL the current commissioners and board of education members. They have made a series of bad decisions that don’t represent the people they are elected to represent. Many have spoken out, but the elected officials continue to turn a deaf ear to our concerns and desires. Many have asked questions, yet they are not given answers. They need to start listening to the citizens of Bulloch County and NOT the County Manager! Your First Amendment rights are sacred, and it is important that they are protected from the overreach of elected officials.
